Lawn mower repair: troubleshooting common lawn mower problems
Has your mower suddenly stopped mowing? Check out the following guide to get it roaring again.
If your lawn mower is difficult to start up:
- try applying a multi-purpose lubricant in the ignition
- clean your spark plug from accumulated dirt and carbon residues.
- check the spark plug lead for damage and replace if necessary.
If your lawn mower releases black smoke:
- check the air filter.
- if it uses a paper filter, replace.
- if it uses a sponge filter, wash with kerosene.
If your lawn mower is vibrating a lot:
- if it uses a rotary motor, check for unbalanced blades and sharpen to regain balance.
- unbalanced blades may cause further damage. Fix it asap or get it replaced.
If all else fails:
- bring your lawn mower to a lawn mower repair near you.
- consider buying a new one with better features from a lawn mower shop close to you.
