It has a lot of electronic components that amplify sounds so that these sounds can be heard more easily. Smaller, more discreet hearing aids are more expensive, and may be harder to operate. The hearing aid receives sound from the microphone, amplifies the converted electrical signals and sends them to the ear through a speaker. Typically, a person with hearing loss can have his/her hearing enhanced but not fully restored, as it is assumed that the person at least has a capability to hear. There are two types of hearing aids: digital and analogue. Analogue aids convert sound waves into electrical signals. Digital hearing aids decode the sound waves into bits and bytes.
