Helen King Hearing Solutions

I have been wearing hearing aids now for 15 years. A change of job and subsequent relocation to Canberra meant I needed a new hearing audiologist to assist in selection of a new pair of hearing aids. Helen was recommended to me. I contacted Helen and even though she was in the process of moving premises and with my tight work schedules she was extremely accommodating in facilitating a number of sessions to find the right aids for me.I have strong views and very high expectations when it comes to selection of hearing aids. Helen was very helpful in arranging in a number of trials of different models and we finally found a pair to suit my needs. I found Helen to be a true professional who listened and helped me to find the right hearing aid, which has been a big help to me at work and in my home life. I have no hesitation in recommending Helen to anyone looking for help and guidance in selecting a pair of hearing aids. Thank you very much Helen for your patience and perseverance with me.

Handy tips

What is a hearing aid and how does it work?

Have a look at our quick introduction to the handy hearing aid. A hearing aid is a small device that is worn behind or in the ear. It has a lot of electronic components that amplify sounds so that these sounds can be heard more easily. Smaller, more discreet hearing aids are more expensive, and may be harder to operate. A hearing aid has three basic parts: a microphone, amplifier and speaker. The hearing aid receives sound from the microphone, amplifies the converted electrical signals and sends them to the ear through a speaker. Typically, a person with hearing loss can have his/her hearing enhanced but not fully restored, as it is assumed that the person at least has a capability to hear. There are two types of hearing aids: digital and analogue. Analogue aids convert sound waves into electrical signals. Digital hearing aids decode the sound waves into bits and bytes. This can be specially programmed to amplify some frequencies more than others. Think you need hearing aid equipment?
