Having never fly fished before, i found Gary extremely helpful and knowledgable. He was very patient in teaching me how to master the basics of Fly Fishing. Arthurs Lake was amazing. Gary was able to identify where fish were feeding in the varying conditions. We learned fly selection and how to approach the fish. Cant wait to visit Tasmania again to experience this again with Gary

How to choose fishing tackle?

Many anglers find today's wide variety of fishing tackle confusing. So, if you are struggling to pick the right type of gear at a fishing tackle shop, you are not alone. Here are a few tips to help you:

  • Select a fishing rod that is five and a half to six feet long to handle lures weighing between 1/12 and 1/3 ounce. This is a medium-light to medium rod.
  • Go for a spin cast reel if you are new to fishing as this is easier to use than a spinning reel. However, bear in mind that spinning reels hold more line and can cast farther than a spin cast one.
  • Use the lightest line possible. Most anglers should be able to fish with a six-pound test line all day and never lose a fish.

Price is an important consideration so buy your tackle at the best value from a fishing tackle store. On the lookout for cheap fishing tackle shops? Why not browse our online listings to discover options for a fishing tackle near you?
