Wagner Dental

I never thought I would see the day that my 15 year old autistic boy would let a dentist clean his teeth. His first dentists' check was only 2 years ago, and he hardly let the dentist have a look in his mouth. Same 1 year ago. But within 2 appointments seeing Michael Wagner at "Wagner Dental Surgery" in Beaudesert, my son has had his whole mouth full of teeth cleaned with the rotating little brush!! Michael was so patient and kind, and little by little got my son used to the equipment, letting him hold the instruments himself, until his anxieties were alleviated and he let Michael clean his teeth. I think the taste of the toothpaste was a help too. I was really impressed with Michael's patience, wisdom and sense of humour. I would recommend anyone with special needs kids who are having trouble getting their kids to see a dentist - to come to see Michael Wagner in Beaudesert. He also recommended an electric toothbrush, and after being used to the dentist's cleaning brush, our son is coping with the electric toothbrush every day. He will be able to maintain clean teeth now. And the electric toothbrush will help him stay used to that rotating sensation on his teeth that happens when the dentist cleans his teeth. Couldn't be more happier with a dentist!!

Handy tips

Been a while since your last dentist appointment?

Good oral hygiene is essential for overall health and wellbeing. Sink your teeth into these tips for a healthy mouth, teeth and gums:

Brush your teeth twice a day, at least!

Don’t forget to brush your tongue too, using a soft bristle toothbrush.

Make flossing a daily practice.

Try avoid smoking if possible.

Have a good and thorough inspection of your mouth on a regular basis, checking for any potential symptoms of oral disease. Here be sure to inspect teeth, inside of cheeks, under the tongue,  top of mouth, gums and of course teeth.

If you notice unusually bad breath this could potentially indicate an infection.

Keep a healthy diet. This involves restricting your intake of drink and foods particularly rich in sugars that can be harmful for your teeth.

Following these guidelines, together with frequent dentist appointments should ensure your teeth and gums are in a happy and healthy state. You will be less likely to need an emergency dentist. Keep searching our directory for quotes and to find a local dentist near you.
