Why participate in dance lessons and dance classes

Life is one big song, and through dancing we move along. Dancing gets the blood pumping and releases feel good endorphins. Dancing is an aerobic and anaerobic type of exercise, increasing oxygen flow through the bloodstream. This instantly makes you feel more awake, energetic, happier and healthier.

Dancing has been proven to assist with spine and posture. It is regarded as a more moderate impact physical exercise variety. In this way it is less likely to provoke injury to muscles and ligaments, yet still burns up considerable amounts of energy to support weight loss.  Dancing is a good workout for the abs, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms, feet and legs. As it comprises of low impact movements, there is less risk of injury whilst stimulating cardiovascular circulation.

Dancing also has a wide variety of mental health pros, such as stress relief, increasing serotonin and promoting a sense of wellbeing / self confidence.  Dancing is instinctive to children who respond to music. Certainly with the variety of latin, salsa and ballet dance types (to name a few) dancing is something we should actively continue in our adult lives.
