Caulfield Race Course is right next to Caulfield Station and commuters can see the horses doing track work each morning. The grandstands (like all the Melbourne tracks (Flemington, Moonee Valley, Caulfield and Sandown)) are impressive pieces of infrastructure with massive windows built to keep out the rain. It is best known for the Caulfield Cup that is part of the Spring Carnival two weeks before the Melbourne Cup. I was surprised recently how small the crowd is for a regular meeting.
