Handy tips

What are the different types of bricks?

While bricks can be categorised based on quality, building process and manufacturing method, let’s look at their classification based on raw materials:

  • Burnt clay bricks: These are formed by pressing clay in moulds and are then dried and fired in a kiln. These are one of the most commonly used bricks.
  • Concrete bricks: These are made from solid concrete and are very common among homebuilders. If you’re looking to buy house bricks concrete bricks can be a good choice to place in facades and fences for aesthetic appeal.
  • Sand-lime bricks: These are made by mixing sand, fly ash and lime followed by a chemical process during wet mixing. The mix is then moulded under pressure to form the brick.
