The colour, shape, size and texture of the bricks can impact the overall look and feel of your house. We’ve gathered a few pointers to bear in mind before you head out to buy bricks, so you get it right the first time:

Decide whether you want to go in for machine-made or handmade bricks. Usually, machine-made bricks have a cleaner and smoother finish and are cheaper, whereas the rough textures and uneven creases of handmade bricks make them more attractive.
Look at a sample outside. It’s important to see how your selections appear in natural light, rather than indoors to get an idea of the design and colour.
Consider the location of your home. Since bricks are graded to suit different environmental conditions. Therefore your location will determine which grade you need. For example, if you live near the coast or have high-saline soil, you should pick exposure grade bricks due to their heightened resistance to salt attack.
