Ipswich Antique Centre

Hands down my favorite store in Ipswich! Heather and her team always make me feel welcome when I stop by (which is almost every week) and they are always happy to chat. Fully air conditioned the Centre is a great place to relax on the weekend and the onsite cafe offers tasty treats (the Jelly Slice is A-mazing) and cold drinks. Parking is super easy as well, with a massive off street car park (entrance on Roderick Street). With constantly changing stock and more than seven different rooms filled with goods from a wide range of sellers (vintage, antique, clothing, hats, furniture, bric-a-brac) the Ipswich Antique Centre is the premier antique store in Ipswich. If you're looking for city antiques at country prices - this is the place. Even if you're not - it's worth stopping by to check out the terrifying Victorian wardrobe for sale up the back!

Questions to ask your antique dealer

Whether you’re purchasing antique furniture or just curious about how antique auctions work, you can get a better sense for the situation by asking these questions to your antique dealer.

  • Who is the manufacturer of this item? There are many instances where you can research the manufacturer of an item to understand the use and era it is from.
  • Are there any markings of any kind that I should know of?
  • What’s the story behind this antique? Where did it come from?
  • Am I able to get an appraisal done for this product? You can often get free appraisals by an independent expert on antique furniture, jewellery, Asian antiques and collectibles.
  • How long have you been dealing with antiques?
  • What is the return policy on items sold here?
