Broken Books Custom Framing

I was extremely happy with the professional service offered at Broken Books Custom Framing. The end product on my framing exceeded my expectations and the price was great at 20% off the normal retail price. Will most certainly be back for all my future framing. I highly recommend Broken Books Custom Framing.

What makes antiques so valuable

Ever wondered the factors that make antiques and collectibles so important or valuable? An antique furniture may sell for two hundred, it may sell for two thousand. If you want to find out how much you’re supposed to pay, read on.

Any piece of antique is judged by its sentimental value or its historical value. These two factors, along with its rarity determines the economic value of the antique. Say for example you inherited an ancient sword that dates back to the Japanese feudal era. The value of this antique will depend on:

  • The legend or story associated with it- was it created by the last surviving master blacksmith of the era? Was it used in a historic battle between warlords?
  • The history or knowledge associated with it- was the blacksmithing method used to create it completely unique? Does the sword contain details or hints towards a time that is little understood by historians?
  • How many similar authentic antique pieces that are available in the world. The rarer this sword is, the higher the value the antique dealer will be able to command.
