Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine

I have known Serene for several years now and first was recommended to her for treatment from a client who was being treated for pain of which I also had and treatment and results were short lived.I had regular acupuncture and combined with herbs for other issues affecting my body that I was not aware of. I now still have regular care from Serene that maintains my body and keeps me feeling well and always erlaxed after treatment. We always have a chat and laugh and grateful for her care and friendship. Jeanette Brady

Handy tips

What is acupuncture therapy?

According to traditional Chinese medical theory, the vital energy of the body called ‘qi’ or ‘chi’ flows through meridians at certain locations on the body. Chinese acupuncture involves inserting needles into the body with the aim of balancing their energy.

Traditional Chinese medicine describes the body as a harmonious balance of ‘yin’ and ‘yang’ - extremes of the life force. Illness is said to be the consequence of an imbalance of these forces. Inserting needles at specific points of the body is said to bring the energy flow back into proper balance.

Acupuncture treatment has limited serious risks - yet these are mitigated if it is used appropriately by a trained massage professional. Possible risks may include bleeding and soreness if the patient has a bleeding disorder, or infection if the needle is not properly sterilised. At Yellow Pages, we always recommend going to a qualified acupuncturist.
