Why wasn’t my bin emptied?
Index
It’s a conspiracy – the garbos have deliberately and maliciously neglected to empty your bin. You are being persecuted – or are you?
Check for a note or sticker
If you put your bin out for collection and it wasn’t emptied, the garbos should have put a sticker or maybe a note on the bin explaining why. This usually means there is some problem which you need to rectify, once the problem has been fixed, you should be able to call your council to arrange for your bin to be emptied.
Making it easier
In general, there are things you can do to make rubbish collection easier for all concerned.
Rubbish collection tips
- Put your bins out the night before collection
- Place the bin so that the lid opens towards the road and the wheels are facing your house.
- Leave a gap of around 50cm between bins
- Place your bins clear of parked cars, trees and overhanging branches
- Make sure your bin lid is completely closed completely to deter scavengers and vermin
- Don’t place bags on top of or beside bins.
- Please remove your bin from the kerbside within one day of collection
- Don’t put your bin where it could be knocked over by a vehicle.
Of course there’s always the possibility that you put the bin out too late. But that would never happen – would it?
