What tyre do you need?
Index
If you have watched motor racing on television, you will know that tyres are changed when water is on the track to aid grip, or that harder tyres are used at high speeds as they get hot and wear out more quickly. Which tyre should you choose for your driving experience?
Off-road driving
Driving off-road on tracks, sand or through mud and water requires an all-terrain tyre for impact and handling. The driver will need to manage tyre pressure levels and speed to ensure peak performance and safety. For cars which are intended for driving long distances on country roads, road-handling, braking at high speed and comfort are key considerations. Choose a tyrewith a higher speed rating to enhance performance and comfort.
In the snow
In snow conditions, tyres with deeper grooves (at least 4.75mm tread depth) increase traction and help the tyre bite into the snow.
Sports driving
When driving a sports car or for appearance, choose high performance tyres from the sports line for handling and braking.
City driving
If you are a city driver, the continuous stopping and starting increases pressure contact, so it’s important to choose a tyre with increased longevity and the minimum braking distance to maximise performance. Choosing tyres will low rolling resistance aids fuel economy.
For best performance and for your safety, car tyres should be chosen according to the type of car and its expected driving life.
