No partner? No problem! Treat yourself and have the best Valentine’s Day ever

If you’re feeling down in the dumps about being single on Valentine’s Day, then it’s time to start showing yourself a little bit of love. You don’t need a spouse to shower you with gifts and tell you how great you are. No way. You’re more than capable of doing both those things yourself. Celebrate your singlehood, and be thankful that you don’t have to spend your hard-earned money on anyone else.

You deserve to feel special, so here are six ways you can treat your single self this Valentine’s Day.

Take yourself on a shopping spree

There’s nothing like retail therapy to put a spring in your step. After all, just because you’re single, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a present this Valentine’s Day. Maybe you’ve had your eye on a new pair of shoes? Or perhaps you’ve been dreaming about buying that fancy coffee machine? Who cares what it is – just grab the credit card and get your fine self to the shops to treat yourself to something you really want.

Get a spa treatment

Instead of rushing around searching for romantic gifts like all those loved-up couples, spend some quality time relaxing. Whether it be a facial, manicure, massage or any other treatment, check into a local spa for a bit of me-time. If you’re feeling daring, get a professional makeover to show the rest of the world what they’re missing. Make the whole day about you to give yourself a much-needed boost.

Go out for a fancy meal by yourself

This is all about you taking yourself on a date, so it’s time to splurge. Take yourself to a posh restaurant you’ve been wanting to try, and order as many dishes as you like. You won’t have to worry about someone else stealing food from your plate, and you’ll dodge the nightmare of the obligatory shared dessert. Who only wants half a slice of chocolate cake? Nobody – and when you’re by yourself, you can have the whole dang piece. When it comes to dining out, having a few glasses of wine and eating delicious cuisine, you certainly don’t ever need company.

Have a date with your celebrity crush

While it would be nice to believe that Brad Pitt or Beyoncé are eagerly awaiting your call, the chances are pretty slim. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a date with your celebrity crush, though. If you’re infatuated with a famous actor or actress, watch their movies back to back and drool to your heart’s content. Head over heels for a singer? No problem. Stick on their albums and pretend to sing a duet till the cows come home. The best part is you can even wear your PJs if you wish.

Go on a mini break and spend the night at a nice hotel

Have a change of scenery and book a secret escape for yours truly. The nice thing about going away alone is that you don’t have to fit in with anyone else’s idea of the perfect getaway. From spending the whole time in bed and relaxing in the bath to discovering the local area and hotel facilities, you can do what you like, when you like. Ordering room service is a must too, as you probably don’t get to experience the luxury of being waited on hand and foot very often – and you deserve it.

Have a party with other singles

Turn your abode into party central and call upon your unattached friends to celebrate all the great things about being single. Stock up on bottles of bubbly, pizza, ice cream, chocolate, and every other indulgent snack to ensure your night is legendary. Also, don’t forget to pump out some foot stomping tunes and keep your love song collection out of sight. Most importantly, dance, laugh and have bundles of fun – you don’t need a partner to enjoy yourself, after all.
