Whether you’re hosting a small soiree or planning a big blowout, festive feelings are in the air and people everywhere are raising a glass to the summer party season.
But it’s easy to overdo it on the standard beer, wine, and bubbles. If you’re sick of champers and chardonnay, why not shake things up a bit? Get into the spirit of things, and try mixing up a cocktail – it’s really not as hard as it seems.
We spoke to Rob Wood from Bomba restaurant in Melbourne, and he shared the secrets to their signature summer cocktail. Easy to make, delicious, and sure to impress your guests – this bevy is hard to beat.
The base ingredients are:
100ml Cherry Heering
400ml Casa Mariol Vermut Negre
200ml Pampero Blanco
Then just add some fresh orange and cardamom pods. At Bomba they add one more secret ingredient – but they’re keeping it under their hats. So if you’re making this at home, why not try experimenting with some of your own favourite spices? Think a quill of cinnamon for a light flavour, or a few black peppercorns to add a real punch.
Leave this to macerate for two days, until the fruit is soft and the spices have infused in the liquid. Then just pour into glasses and top up with ginger beer, mint, cucumber and a lemon wedge. Bottoms up.
