How much does lawn mowing cost?
Index
There’s nothing nicer than a well-manicured lawn for bare-footed summer fun. Not only will your house be the smartest on the street, but you’ll keep weeds and bees at bay too.
In the warm summer months, grass grows pretty fast, so you might need to mow your lawn every other week. Add up the time it takes to trim the edges, whippersnip the tricky bits, and give the path a good sweep, and it’s goodbye Sunday.
If you don’t have time to mow your lawns regularly, why not hire a lawn mowing service to do the job for you?
How much will it cost?
The basic cost of getting your lawns maintained depends on the size of your patch. It actually works out cheaper for a bigger lawn, because part of the costs involve travel time and setting up. It also depends on how frequently your lawns need mowing. Some grasses need a trim every couple of weeks over summer – others are more slow growing. Most grasses slow their growth dramatically over the winter months.
Before you call around for quotes, ask yourself a couple more questions. Do you want a regular visit from a lawn mowing contractor, or a once-off trim to impress your in-laws? Be aware that a regular contract with a lawn maintenance expert will generally be cheaper than an occasional stand-alone job.
And finally, if your lawn needs a little TLC in addition to a mow, you’ll need to factor in the cost of fertilising, weeding, aerating and watering as well.
For a straightforward mowing job, you will be looking at paying around:
-
$50 for a small lawn (up to 600m2)
-
$60 for a medium sized lawn (up to 950m2)
-
$70 for a large lawn (over 1000m2)
Of course these prices vary from state to state and region to region, so it pays to get a few quotes to be sure you’re getting a good deal.
