Colour your hair? How to keep it healthy
Index
When hair is damaged it appears dull and dry and often has split ends or excessive fly-aways. When hair is too dry or damaged it can even snap or break off, or become lank and thin.
What can be done to prevent or repair damaged hair?
There are products available to assist with repairing damaged hair, available for purchase from supermarkets or hair salons, including hot oil treatments and leave-in conditioning creams.
Hairdressers also offer intensive conditioning treatments and sell products designed to prevent and treat damaged hair.
The best way to limit hair damage is to stretch the time in-between chemical treatments such as hair dyeing, perming or hair straightening. Try to avoid daily use of hairdryers, curling irons or heated hair straighteners as these also impact on your hair’s condition.
Remember to give your hair a few days off from heat treatments every week.
Consult with your hairdresser and use products that are specifically designed for your hair type and hair condition. Regular haircuts and visits to a professional hair salon will ensure that your hair remains in good condition.
