Tips for choosing the right caravan park
Index
It’s a sweltering 38°C, you pull up to caravan park and… there’s no swimming pool?
Gone are the days of just rocking up to the nearest caravan park and hoping it satisfies your needs. Now, planning ahead is a must – luckily, thanks to the internet – choosing where to stay has never been easier.
Here’s what you need to consider when looking for a caravan park:
Location
As they saying goes: location, location, location. Decide in advance what kind of holiday you and your travelling buddies want to enjoy. Do you want to surf? Do you want to go shopping? Will you need to get a prescription filled on your break?
Travelling with children?
Any parent will know that kids need room to run and play. So, if you are travelling with kids, find a caravan park that has a playground or a swimming pool.
To put your mind at ease, find a park offering extra security and enclosed grounds so you’ll know the kids are safe.
Grown-ups only?
If you find children on public transport irritating and you’re not travelling with any, you’ll definitely want to avoid big family oriented caravan parks. There’s nothing worse than that latest John Grisham being interrupted by squealing toddlers!
If you’re planning on spending most of your time outside of the park, then paying for extras such as pools and tennis courts is probably unnecessary.
Pets
If you’re planning on bringing your favourite fluffy (or reptilian!) friend, check the park is pet-friendly first.
Price
Caravan parks outside main tourist centres can be cheaper but also consider driving to and from town.
If you want to stay for a while and save a few dollars caravan parks often have discounted rates for longer term stays, so check the deals on offer before booking!
