We work to contribute our client’s happiness, satisfaction, fitness, enjoyment, success and passion with horses.
Forest Park Riding & Equitation School has been run by Grant and Heather Hughes for over 30 years. Forest Park Riding & Equitation School has three sections - agistment, riding school and performance horses. We currently have around 50 full time & part time employees working for us, delivering Canberra the highest quality equine services available.

Our riding school:

The overriding goal at Forest Park Riding & Equitation School is to share their love of horses and horse riding with everyone wishing to be involved in equine pursuits no matter how old or young.
The riding school caters for both riders who own their own horse and also for those who do not.

Our horses:

We have 30 school horses on which our instructors give lessons to our clients. Our beloved school horses are a wonderful mix of personalities, colours and temperaments to suit all standards of riders.
Our performance horses have been bred or purchased by Grant and Heather and have been educated to competition standard, competing in show jumping, dressage and hacking.

  • Do you teach people to ride?

    Yes, we teach children from age 2 to adults, beginners to advanced.

  • Do you run trail rides?

    Yes, we take beginners through to advanced riders.

  • Do you train horses for people?

    Yes, we take horses for breaking and also re-education.

  • How many horses do you have?

    We have approximately 30 horses and ponies to cater for beginners through to experienced riders.

  • What size groups can you cater for?

    We can take groups of up to 20 riders.

  • Do I need to book my lesson or trail ride?

    Yes, you will need to book as our rides often fill up early.

  • Do you require riders to wear protective helmets?

    Yes, we require all riders to wear Australian standard protective helmets. We have helmets which you can borrow or you may bring your own.

  • What should I wear?

    You should wear comfortable clothes including long pants, and tops should have collar and sleeves. Parents of little league riders should wear sturdy and fully enclosed shoes.

  • Are your horses quiet and safe?

    Our horses have many years of experience for teaching people to ride. We try to match horse and rider standard so that our riders have a pleasurable experience.

  • Do you take credit cards?

    No, unfortunately we do not have EFTPOS or credit card facilities.
